Arkansas City, KS - South Central Kansas Medical Center's Chief Executive Officer, Steve Perkins, has tendered his resignation, effective in January 2015, to its Board of Trustees. In his letter Perkins said, "I have done everything I can do for SCKMC. I believe the organization needs a new direction, and I do as well."

The Board of Trustees will act on the resignation at its upcoming meeting. SCKMC Board's Executive Committee is already taking steps to affect a smooth transition in leadership. The position will be posted very soon for qualified applicants.

Perkins expressed his appreciation for the wonderful members of the Board, management team, staff and doctors affiliated with the organization.

"Steve has a passion for this hospital and our community that will be hard to fill and he will be missed," said Dr. Nick Rogers, chairman of the South Central Kansas Medical Center's Board of Directors. "Running a hospital in rural America is challenging with the many changes dictated by insurance and government regulations. We were fortunate to have had him in Ark City and wish him the best."
